Beadwork by Celia Martin
Patterns for Beaders
Here's some patterns I've made up, adapted from cross-stitch & bargello embroidery designs.
Just a couple of rules:  The patterns are free for personal use.   Feel free to adapt the patterns themselves to your own projects.  However, the pattern images themselves are not to be included in any collections or publications without my written permission.

My Hummingbird is made from elements in two different cross-stitch patterns.  I simplified the colors down to 2 shades of each color used.  I used off-white ceylon pearl seed beads for the background, and the bird & flower are all silverlined beads (except the black) in clear & matte finishes.  The background is #11 off-white ceylon pearl seed beads, and except for the black beads, all the beads in the bird & flower are silverlined, to stand out from the background.  Some of the silverlined beads are matte-finished, like the clear ones used for the hummingbird’s belly.

I made up a suncatcher/wall hanging from this pattern.  After finishing the basic design on the loom, I took it off and added the triangular section at the bottom & expanded the top for a hanging loop using square stitch, and finished it off with a fringe.  The hanger is a piece of floral wire with two rosette beads glued on the ends, all painted with gold leaf paint.

This Celtic Knotwork  pattern is suitable for a card case like my Chocolate Celtic Knot case in the Gallery.  I made this pattern up in iridescent blue metallic & pale blue ceylon pearl seed beads.

Bargello - Loom
I love the patterns made with bargello embroidery, and they adapt very well to beadwork.  The one above is for loomwork, and the one below is for peyote stitch.  I made an amulet bag in amethyst tones, and it turned out beautifully! (No photo -- couldn't hang on to it long enough!)
